Stole My Eyes Poem by William Kofoed

Stole My Eyes

I remember
Then I was young
All I did
Everyday
Remember it all
In my mind

And the time
I saw her
Saw what I
Never should have
Saw what I
Cannot see
It then that
She stole my eyes

And since then
All is dark
I cannot see
All that is
If I could
Then I might
Just what it was
She did to me

Now there is
Nothing at all
In my mind
Since that day
All is dark
Only words
No eyes have I
In my mind

In is though
She gave me words
For all there is
For memories
All the world
In my mind
All in words
All have I

She stole from me
Took my eyes
Gave me words
To replace them

All is dark
Memories gone
Since that day
Since I saw
I cannot remember
What she did
I cannot see
In my mind

All is gone
In my mind
All is dark
I cannot see
I cannot know
What she did

Only words
