Stick Rocket Poem by mohanan viswambharan Nair

Stick Rocket

I was born in a firework shed far behind the lake.
Among their gaiety and fun, on the eve of the festival,
they put me down in an empty glass bottle of liquor.
with a firebrand, a half-naked bellied man came to me
Why did he come to me? I am afraid of fire.
In a moment, he lit the fire in my fuse.
The bottle he put me in, tilted into one side.
tripping over pebbles, he also ran and ran again.
I was going up, but I was taken to the side by a force.
In the night of colors and sounds, the children and grown-up
were gladdened up igniting different crackles.
As I was going above the cowshed, a terrified cow
and its calf looked at me, their eyes seemed like fireballs.
They tried to run away, but couldn't, as they were tied to a pole.
A dog lay nearby, broke its chain, and ran somewhere.
The Strength led me up eventually descended and turned my move,
as the earth pulled me down by its magic power.
A wall was seen before me, it would be my fate.
A smash to my head on the wall in front
It happened, as I feared, with a big bang.
A bursting of charge, shooting of the stars followed it.
The children and grown-up enjoyed themselves
the collection of stars in vibgyor above the cow-shed.
The next day, they were waiting for their dog.
But he alone never came back ……………..!
