Staying Poem by cheryl davis miller

Staying

She did not mean to leave forever
when she turned and walked away.
But then a week became a month
and then forever from that day.

Mandie did not understand
nor forget as time went by.
Yet over time she hid the pain
and learned how not to cry.

Tom just really needed time
the excuse he used to go.
Instead of time meeting that need
the need seemed to grow and grow.

The little guy tryed holding on
trusting Daddy will come home.
Then lost the ability to trust
as he grew up sad and alone.

They didn't ask to come to Earth.
WE gave life to them; you know.
A priveledge granted unto us
by our Creator; long ago.

With that right comes requirements.
Like commitment and longevity.
Staying when we'd like to run;
that seems only fair to me.
