Stay Your Tears Poem by Matthew Holloway

Hold, stay your tears
for I shall not be gone
more changed to something else
I hope, I leave within some
a memory or life lesson
something that can be good
something to make life better
I would like to have made a difference
even if only to one solitary life
for the script written by the fates
we perform upon this stage
with all due grace and truth
a role is but a life performed
so hold, stay all tears for now
and for everyday to come
a curtain shall fall, the act done
then listed in the program
the weathered script
no hero, villain nor antagonist
only and yet, just this
this role and this life
asks of you now, final act
to save all tears
for one who deserves them
