Start All Over Again Poem by Sabrina ,

Start All Over Again

Rating: 5.0

I cannot talk, there is a tube through my throat
I cannot stay awake, the pain is too strong to handle
I cannot walk, my body is all broken

will my parents be with me?
will my friends accept me?
will my love come visit me?

the tube is out, now I can talk
the pain is managed, I can stay awake
my body is still broken, I will never walk again

my parents were here everyday since the accident
few friends came, most of them were very concerned
my love... is he my love yet?

people are never satisfied by what they get
thats what makes us keep going in search of something better
specially when we just lost something so important

I want to go back in time
erase that second that changed my life
but still I have to deal with it
the hard way: in a wheelchair!

Hi SABRINA - A beautiful poem from a beautiful lady. Thanks for sharing your story with us it really is 'Una poema do coracao'. The poem has excellent structure and a beuatiful Brazillian rhythm. I love the way you move from I CANNOT in verse one to I CAN in verse three. verses two and four indicate that the transition (from cannot to can) was made with more than a little help from your family - your friends - your lover. These four verses paint a picture of slow and (in your eyes (verses five and six) an incomplete recovery. I am chairman of the disability group at my local Adult Education College our Mission Statement is 'To remove all barriers of access to people with disabilities'. We have many students in wheelchairs and I was encouraged by the resolution in your last two lines. But still I have to deal with it The hard way - in a wheelchair. I hope that by writing poetry in English (which is excellent) you will find the release you are looking for. We all love you - every blessing - I have scored you a MAX for structure - content - excellent use of English. Love in Poetry - JOHN
