St. Petersburg Terror Attack (The Devastating Metro Bombing) Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

St. Petersburg Terror Attack (The Devastating Metro Bombing)

Time never recedes it's action
the train never forgets it's tracks
yet many, in the errant moments
of other's intentions fall prey
to such harrowing inequity
where value for humanity
disperses like rose petals strewn
with rage, with wickedness
so unnecessary, so un-required;
what gains it yields to those
who wield their prowess
of terror, horror and destruction,
that in the end game of
vengeance and hatred
innocent lives of those
who walk to work
climb on a train
to reach to their homes
or to their work-places
face the wrath, face the death
the injury, the pain,
the anguish, the grief
which engulfs their breath
when not so proud were they
when not so rich were they
but commuting on a train
for convenience, for meeting friends
for reaching to their educational venues
and not to encounter injuries so grave
in a tunnel or to lay dead
by the platform on a station
or to offer their lives
to those who avenge
their thirst for an equalizer
knowing that the innocent life
injured or dead was another
beautiful flower scattered
by their hands of mite
and not by their hands of might.
And while those who faced
the terror, the brutality
in ignorance surrendered
their resilience to cruelty
but their sacrifice of life
unto such devastating fate
will forever be remembered
and blessed by God
for they were the sons
they were the daughters
they were the husbands
they were the wives
they were the children
who were born and bred
to live in harmony
till the end of their time
and not to confront
consequences of terrorism
which breaks their faces
their bones, their limbs
and takes away their right
to a humble existence.
