St Georges Day Poem by Cabaline xxx

St Georges Day

My patriotic side has broken free from its restraints!
April 23rd has been circled on my calendar,
since the day it was placed upon the wall.
My flag takes pride of place, and my red rose,
pins neatly to my clothes, a proud reminder,
of who I really am!

I listen once again to the tales of a brave knight,
which causes my English Pride to swell,
as if it were the mighty dragon, which our warrior,
heroically slayed- to save the fair princess.
The protective giant, armed with a lance, will defend
any English soul!

I can spot occasional English flag, waving
in the distance, by those distinct individuals,
standing up for their glorious country.
One of our 14 Holy Helpers, he has earned praise,
so I raise my glass high and celebrate my (our) day-
The Feast Of St George!
