Spring Poem by Practicing Poetess

Spring

Rating: 5.0

Darn Spring!
Messin' with my head again.
I want to stay rooted and grounded,
But you set me to daydreamin'.
In the words of an old song,
'The birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the moon up above
And a thing called love' *
Why do you cruelly intrude, and distract me
From my comfy, stable life?
I have things that I must do,
And I don't have time for you.
Winter, please linger a little while longer.

Very nice poem. Jewel Akens Wow a blast from the past. Good easy flowing song like many from that era. To me the 1960's was the best decade for music. That's just my opinion.

Thanks for reading, Ray. This was written during a period in my life when I was fighting & resisting the effect that Spring has on many of us- - the characters in Disney's animated Bambi movie, causing us to become 'twitter-pated'! I have a bunch of Oldies playlists on youtube, and enjoy them immensely.

It's unusual to prefer winter to spring, when the sun shines a lot warmer where I live, and in which I thrive. But we are all different individuals and winter suits you better for writing it seems.

Actually, Michael, I LOVE the season of Spring, next after Autumn, which is my favourite. What this poem refers to is the effect that Spring has on a person because of the birds and the bees, hormones, longing for love (and dreaming about it, if one is currently without a sweetheart) , and being 'twitterpated', to use a word from Disney's original animated film Bambi. I was having a tough time this past Spring!
