Spotlight Poem by Susan Lacovara

Spotlight

'Til comes a time
when you are gone
gone gone gone
like a building leveled by a wrecking ball
I will keep walking passed that corner
Where once you'd stand
Just shy of the four o'clock hour
watching the white moon interrupt the afternoon sky

The humble moon cared not
That the sun was beheld for her glorious rays
Cheerfully applauded for her warmth and summertime kiss
Lovers often gravitate towards the blaze of brightness
Without thinking of eventual burn

'Til comes a time
When seagulls will scatter from the shoreline
Gone
Gone gone gone
I will stay with me feet in the sand
however the tides shift my footing
And look upward for that pale peek of the rising full moon
That lends me it's spotlight
For my continued search
For a simple love
