Spice Of Life Poem by Dale Mullock

Spice Of Life

What if all photos were the same,
except maybe for the picture frame.
How could you identify me,
from everyone else you see.

Wherever you may go,
your face you must show,
no matter how much wealth,
you can only be yourself,
for you may travel far,
but wherever you go, there you are.
There is no way to escape your fate,
you’ll have to accept all your traits.

If we all looked the same as one another,
and your best friend looked like your brother.
You could play a game of who is who,
and never know if what they said was true.

You could be anywhere,
but you’ll always be there,
no matter how much stealth,
you can’t hide from yourself,
from yourself you’ll never be free,
for you are there for all to see.
There is no way to escape detection,
for the mirror will always cast your reflection.

Could you tell your girlfriend that you love her,
if she looked the very same as your mother.
What would the feeling be, in your heart,
if you could not tell them apart.

(Variety is the spice of life,
so don’t let your differences run rife,
just accept that you are yourself,
for you can be no one else.)

a masterpiece, poetic, suugestive and emotive, it really touched me and I think I can relate to it. Strong and powerful sensations, well done R
