Speeding Poem by Francis Duggan

Speeding

On the roadway all day long they drive their cars fast to and fro
Always seeming in a hurry one wonders why so
They drive their cars and trucks so fast to and from the town
Not even the speed limit signs slows some of them down
That they are addicted to speeding it does seem this way
Perhaps their dream is to be champion car racing drivers one day
Many of the speeding drivers from their late teens to their physical prime
When they are driving many of them it does seem are racing against time
Eventually some of them run out of luck
Crash into a wall or a big tree or a very big truck
Some who have daydreamed of being car racing champions in cemeteries lay
They did not live to raise children and grow old and gray
Suppose speed gives them an adrenalin rush to the head
A reason that some of them at a young age join the dead.
