Space Trekkers Poem by Satheesan Rangorath

Space Trekkers

I dozed off a little
time travels with me, I am in it
the car was running fast
road lie stretched
from Dubai to Abudhabi
kicking past the deserts
there was nothing
except for dry cactus
leisurely moving ships of the desert sea

as a passenger, I was in a moon shuttle
wearing a space suit
my fellow astronauts busy
the captain is at the controls
many intricate dials
bleepers
and coloured indicators
show our navigation
we are cruising at supersonic speed
co-travellers too busy
at the assigned posts
five trekkers on board

solid and liquid fuelled rockets
gets disintegrated
ship floats
battleship Galactica signals
clear pathway ahead

watching the silence of space I looked out
stars and planets in their Sunday best
splashes of asteroids
comets
laser display
excellent coloured flashlights
intrigued
awestruck
the vision of mine was wandering
space shuttles fly past, research stations
burial places of dead stars
abandoned satellites
colliding meteorites
my turn to spacewalk
shook hands with Angel's

monuments of those darlings
who lost their lives in the Odyssey
earthrise with its bluish-green light
moon so close to me a golden platter

Arab driver declares the arrival at Abudhabi
sleepwalking
still in the hangover of a moonwalker I stepped out
to the staring redhot sun
pinching on into my dream
