Sonnet: When Heaven Answers Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: When Heaven Answers

What happens when innocent blood is shed,
And crimes happen against the downtrodden?
What happens when a great leader is dead,
By sweat of farmer's brow, field is sodden?

What happens when denied is justice long,
And cries of anguished hearts are heard by God?
What happens when there rings a plaintive song
Of persecution profound to the Lord?

What happens when the poor afflicted die,
Of hunger, thirst, disease, ill-luck, fate, strife?
What happens when the evil minds all lie,
To take revenge or take away one's life?
Across the Sky, a Rainbow of Hope spreads;
Heaven's punishment rains on evil heads.
