Sonnet: Greed For Wealth Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Greed For Wealth

Rating: 5.0

Your excess wealth will pass to useless hands;
Your progeny will lazy turn by it;
And frittered will be earned-hard sums and lands;
Your earthly wealth will land in hands unfit.

Why waste your time and life like this?
All earthly possessions become useless;
Your wealth can't earn a seat in heavenly bliss;
Just live today in Christ Lord's happiness.

Let wisdom help you gather heavenly wealth;
Good deeds on earth cannot decay or rot;
One day, all things will end including health;
Your faith in God is more than any lot!

Worries and labor can lessen life's span;
God is the only Master for a man!

A beautifully envisioned meaningful sonnet. It reminds Kabirdasjis couplet in hindi, Put suput to kyon dhan sanchay, put kuput to kyun dhan sanchay. Thanks for sharing.10 points. Regards.
