Soap Poem by Indigo Rose Christman

Soap

He sits there all alone,
Waiting for companionship.
Day after day he sits,
Longing to be held.
Until one bright sunny morning,
He is scooped up and cradled in soft hands.
He is used,
His new love takes away from him.
But he is not alone.
He gives his all,
And some is stripped away,
Nothing is given in return.
Once again he is left alone.
He longs but fears to be held once more.
Day after day,
He has companionship for a little while.
And a joy fills him.
But day after day,
More is taken from him.
He shrinks smaller and smaller,
Until nothing is left.
Save his small, white heart.
His heart is cradled in the hands of his love,
And a tiny flicker of hope stirs.
Then his heart is washed away forever.
And he is gone,
But no longer alone…
