So These Are The Dreams Poem by Fiona Burgess

So These Are The Dreams

So these are the dreams
That drift along streams
Running between barley and rye.
And although they’re not as they may seem
There’s no one to tell us why.

So these are the hopes we cherish dear
They float along on winds so queer
Across mountains and valleys, and plains so bare.
They give us passion and strength, through fear
Even though none would dare.

So these are the wishes that give us light
They spin through our dreams at night
Through the dark, through the cold.
They warm our hearts and give us fight
None would challenge them, but the bold.

And when the stars are dead and gone
And the wars of life are finished and done
Will these wishes and hopes, and dreams be here?
For the honour and glory we have won
Captured for all eternity in the glance of a crystal tear.
