So Many Years Poem by Colin Coplin

So Many Years

Rating: 4.5

Who are we to criticize, the ways of modern man
It's only when we analyze, it's then we'll understand
From the cradle to the grave, it's been that way for years
Hey, can you tell me someone, where do we go from here

You promised us another solution, but the scene remains the same
Pouring petrol onto the fire, only to reforge the same mould again
And it's been that way for so many years

Stand up all you patriots and tell me what it means
When all the things you're fighting for, are nothing more than dreams
Is there a method to the madness, I see our future's for sale?
Does it come with a guarantee, cause we all seen dreams can fail / cause we've seen things can fail

You promised there'd be no confusion, after all you gave us your word
So, if it's true and this world is a stage, then why aren't us actors heard
And it's been that way for so many years

So many years, so many years, so many years, been that way
For so many years, so many years, so many years, so many years

Let no man write your epitaph then sell it by the pound
It only takes a paragraph to knock a good man down
Don't let them steal your life away, it's been yours from the start
I mean what good is a heart and soul, if they're kept a thousand miles apart

You promised us an honest conclusion to the stories that you have told
But all I see is a world in confusion, lost and so out of control
And it's been that way for so many years

So many years, so many years, so many years, been that way
For so many years, so many years, so many years, so many years

Throw away the hope you grew up with
Now's the time for wholesale change
No longer time to hold on to your fears, or your tears
Or it will be the same, for many more years
So many years, so many years, so many more years
