Snow On Mushera Poem by Francis Duggan

Snow On Mushera

On the high countryside from here far away
I have been told that there is snow on Mushera today
And the early February weather temperature mostly below the zero degrees
And the cold breath of frost in the Boggeragh breeze
Though today in Duhallow there will not be sunlight
Mushera covered in snow quite a beautiful sight
In the farmyard sheds of Aubane cattle bellowing for silage or hay
And Spring from the high country seems far away
Of snow on Mushera in February one can expect of to hear
This is not unusual for the time of year
On the icy Butter road above Millstreet Town
The cars and trucks in low gear slowly drive up and down
On Mushera and the foothills there is snow today
But no surprise in this in truth one can say.
