Snow Has Fallen In The New Forest. Poem by Anthony Foster

Snow Has Fallen In The New Forest.

The naked trees have been covered,
By crystals of sparkling white,
A brilliant display of dancing,
In the moonbeams shimmering light,

The sunlight shines so quietly,
On the tinsel of snow and ice,
As if touched by the wand of a fairy,
A pleasing enchantment so nice.

Biting wind assaults my senses,
Fluffed up against northerly blow,
Just like the Robin in winter,
Searching for scraps in the snow,

I walk back to my home on wheels,
Nestled in the shelter of the tree,
Glad of Matilda, how cosy she feels,
While the owl hunts and hoots in the dark free.
