Smart Little Mouse Poem by Vaughn Bekker

Smart Little Mouse

Rating: 2.5

How do you catch a mouse
Who thinks he`s really smart
Now that he`s moved into my house
He refuses to depart

Perhaps I will set a trap
And put on some cheese
But just seems to avoid the flap
I need to catch him please

In everything he`s chewed a hole
Whatever he can find
Not sure if he thinks he`s a mole
He doesn`t seem to mind

I lay awake at night
I hear him in the room
I think now with all my might
I`ll hit him with a broom

I think he sit and laughs at me
Because every time I move
With a puff of dust he starts to flee
And squeezes through a groove

I think I have a cunning plan
To catch this clever mouse
I think I’ll get a cat named Stan
To come live in the house

Well now here`s to hoping that
My cat Stan will not fail
But all day he sleeps on the mat
And i end up standing on his tail

So once again the mouse is free
To run around my house
Now both the cat and me
Hopes he doesn`t find a spouse
