Six Feet To Freedom Poem by Half Past

Six Feet To Freedom

six more feet is all he thought
six more long hard feet
six more feet to the finish line
in mere moments it would all be over
calloused hands and feet
bones aching for release from this journey
soon he could rest
soon he could dream
just a few more arduous steps
no more long work days without a break
no more stress to shake his limbs
soon he would finally have a vacation
from his ever increasingly long days
soon time would be but a memory
he would have enough to spare
he could dream of all the wonderous places
that life never saw fit to grant him access
he could dream a long sweet dream
no worries about being awoken to soon
soon he would have the life that was not his
six more long and labored feet
his pillow was waiting in those depths
the finish line was in sight
six more feet
to sleep
six more feet
to dream
