Silence (Part Ii) Poem by Roberto Echanes

Silence (Part Ii)

Sweet and ancient lives are catching up with us,
Those golden years of our distant past,
Deep loving remembrances of another time,
Oh my sweetheart, oh beloved mine,
Was this the answer you wanted to hear?
To break with the silence I no more could bear.
‘cause this silence I could keep no more,
That I love you more than you’d ever know,
And I will shout it out to every blissful shore,
That you mean to me more than any wealth,
which men could have in this passing world.

Sometime before my heart was full of sorrow,
‘cause my words of love you couldn’t follow,
‘cause what I meant was to break my silence,
And tell you the truth, with sweet tenderness,
‘cause you’re my muse, this poet’s essence,
this poet’s life-force that basks in your presence.
You’re like the sweet moon rising in the cosmos,
Steeped in its glaring effulgence that lightens my life,
You’re the inspiration that gives birth to these verses,
You’re the raging fire of passion that keeps me alive.

So when the Bard spoke of true love,
Said that real love’s beyond the sickle of time,
That love’s ‘beyond the edge of doom’
‘Tis in my heart this fragrant love to bloom,
And through the waves of never-ending love,
I travelled alone through myriad of lives,
To find you in this world, to find you at last,
So sweetheart please, please understand,
That my love is not just bodily lust,
‘Tis pure, eternal, beyond present and past.
