Sightless Poem by Christopher Shepheard

Sightless

Put out the iris of the inner eye —
Children’s games download by gigabyte;
The mouse and joystick substitute the wands
Magicians wove in kingdoms of delight.

Beyond the eyelash falls the endless rain —
Fairyland has been excluded from
The International Community —
Like other fascist states, its day is gone,

Enlightenment prevails. Meanwhile endure
A world wherein no fiery dragons bark,
No witches scribble at the window pane
And night conceals no darkness but the dark.
