Shipwrecked Individualism... Poem by Adrian Wait

Shipwrecked Individualism...

Little Ships, rescue No More
Selfish indifference, kindness fled
Profiteers bleed misery to the core
Dunkirk spirit long since dead

England, England decline and fall
Little ships of empathy, compassion
Long since forgotten by minds so small
Shipwrecked Individualism all the fashion

Divided, ruled in a Material world
Self and economics both idolised
Profits the golden calf now sold
Greed, corruption now normalised

Never in the field of humanity
As so few exploited the poor
Kindness, and hope now insanity
Too many, it seems ask for more

Feigned words profess remembrance
Emotions tickled conscience unmoved
The trapped drown, the disengaged dance
Conscience unstirred, compassion removed

Little Ships, rescue No More
Selfish indifference, kindness fled
Profiteers bleed misery to the core
Dunkirk spirit long since dead
