She Grieves On Her Own Poem by Francis Duggan

She Grieves On Her Own

She may not be one possessed of beauty rare
And she never has any money to spare
After paying her rent and bills on low income pay
She struggles for to get by from day to day.

In her early fifties with gray in her hair
In her life she does have her crosses to bear
Two years ago her only offspring her son in a work accident died
The grief she still feels she does struggle to hide.

A fifty two years old divorcee her's is a sad life
To a horrible fellow a devoted wife
He often did beat her to her he was cruel
Alcohol to his anger an inflammable fuel.

He left her for a younger woman some five years ago
His departure from her life did not cause her any woe
For his sins against her him she did forgive
But with her son's death she finds it so hard to live.

A woman who has been through her Earthly Hell
The sadness in her eyes have a sad story to tell
The death of her son on her a heavy cross
She grieves on her own for her heartbreaking loss.
