She is a city girl, has laxity they say,
nevertheless, there's a sham of her leeway.
Her accoutre shouldn't be revealing,
'no shorts'- men will find it appealing.
Her skin is likely to crave those wolves,
that's why the scarf of intact she pulls.
Her cleavage should enshroud,
along with her bra strap,
else they will take it as a chance
and get a covet to unwrap.
In a room of sixty,
when one gapes at her,
'you should have dressed well! '
says her man.
If her skirt gets stained in a public place,
umpteen words of gibe she face.
Outings with her male friends is sin,
'its dark, at home she should have been! '
She begs for the consent,
for doing what she feels,
for herself out,
countless words she deals.
The world is bright and also dark,
Her dad grows scared,
And mom grows strict,
so that the dogs out don't bark.
Each word of the poem reflects the deep rooted prejudices of all male chauvinists from north to south and east to west which have often been reported in print and electronic media. They represent our political, social and religious groupings. Whatever has changed in the last several decades is the result of bold initiatives taken in all fields by the women themselves. Thanks a lot.
