She Poem by Jacqualyn Abeni

She

Her light brown eyes were once filled with happiness and joy
Are now replaced with heavy tears of sorrow
Her beating heart which once was complete and whole
Is now blackened with emptiness and loneliness
Her beautiful smile that was always full
Is now half-hearted and fake

Everything that she ever knew is gone
The one she loved the most has passed
And she now realizes that good things can never last

She wonders how she can go on for the rest of her life without him
She doesn’t want a life that doesn’t have him in it
She’s a 15 year old broken hearted girl who just lost her one and only
Daddy

She was closer to him than she was to anyone else
He was close to her
They had a strong relationship
She is Daddy’s only little girl

She gazes out her bedroom window
And she recalls each and every memory
Of her now decreased 37 year old Daddy

She often looks out into the vast sky and pleads with God,
She asks him why her father couldn’t stay with her
And it becomes overwhelming
So now she lays on her bed and cries
And writes this poem to describe how she actually feels inside.
