Scripture Starts The Day Poem by Luke Easter

Scripture Starts The Day

The world is constantly changing,
But is it for better or worse?
How do you start the day?
Is it with scripture, chapter and verse?

Before that morning cup of coffee,
Toast, a slice of bacon or two,
Whatever, however the day begins,
Make sure a scripture starts within you.

Awaken the day with a word from God,
Not Bob, Jerry and Sally from the morning show,
Don’t start the day with a human perspective,
Let God decide where you shall go.

Should the quarterback retire?
Will the pitcher play one more year?
Which is the better recipe?
Is this what God wants to here?

This is what so many people believe,
And then they are so surprised,
When some type of calamity befalls,
As they cannot understand, why?

Wouldn’t you rather start the day?
With a scripture and God on your side?
Where there is no doubt in your mind,
Where you are going and why?

Seeking God means putting Him first,
He will delight in the desires of your heart,
Let that void unconditionally be filled,
Making Him the whole and not the part.

Home, school, work and play,
How is it you start the day?
Then after all you’ve seen and heard,
End the day with a message from the word.

A new beau, coach, teacher or president,
Nothing is the same everyday you go home,
However, the thing that will always be,
One God forever sits on the throne.
