Screaming Is Free Poem by Kevin Patrick

Screaming Is Free

Rating: 5.0

Screaming is free you should try it some time
I've been a consultant since the long age of five

Schooled in Diogenes I'm not so artful to be a cynic
But I'm stealthily committed as a cautious romantic

Labouring under the pretense of amateur wisdom
Byron's stealth's a placebo and I'm really a Novice

Who's been committed to the specter of being human
Miscategorised in a genus that would disturb poor Lepidus

Always caught in a kaleidoscope of my own imagination
Ballooning to horizons that escape from realism

Novels, Rock & Roll and Sci-Fi, are my obsessions
Finding solace in the refuge of a hermits born oasis

Cause I've Been kicked in the heart and pushed on the wall
There's no shoving me down to make me crawl

Thus I have to evict the tension out from my lungs
Or I'm going to go mental and pull a Columbine

Meat cleaving crooks who ejected my teen spirit
Down into a bottle of a Nietzschean abyss

Sorry to cause panic if my intentions seem bias
But without a good direction I'm nomadic zealot

Because I'm just a boy who's trapped in a meat suit
Compelled to spend the rest of his life as a deaf mute

Staring solemnly into the stars of infinite longing
Pronged to the hiccups of existential confusion

So although my behaviour is entirely repugnant
I am most unlikely to be at all apologetic

I've played by the rules, and look like a fool
Open to antipathy, scorn and common abuse

If you think your goanna make me your village idiot
Don't under estimate my ability to formulate a sentence

I've read Marlow and Webster, and a little Shakespeare
Comprehend the basics of science and deception

My intelligence is peaked by the dangers around me
Because almost everyone around me is my enemy

For I've tried being sweet but that just makes me peat
Bludgeoned by cold looks that turned me into concrete

One time I was tormented by a kid who was bullied
Now I am no longer going to stand to being a pulley

I find that being human is a difficult experience
An occupation with poor pay and unfulfilling prospects

So I practise every day in reserved quite place
Shouting at the sky before entering malls

Whenever in doubt try a lunatic shout
It'll clear up the cobwebs of depression bouts

Just remember in life the best things are free
The ultimate form of liberation is the ability to scream

What an amazing couplet and I too love to scream. It brings back memories of my intense screaming at some things I dare not mention. You pour your soul into your poetry and I love that.....
