Save The Child (Mupulumuseni Mwana Wa Mama) Poem by Preston Mwiinga

Save The Child (Mupulumuseni Mwana Wa Mama)

Her future once shone bright, a dream she held so tight,
To be a doctor, saving lives with all her might.
But then you came, a shadow in her way,
Turning her into someone dark, wanting to destroy and sway.

Her dreams of being special, respected in the crowd,
You twisted them into nightmares, filling her with dread and doubt.
On sleepless nights, she'd remember that fateful day,
When you deceived her with sweets and biscuits, taking her astray.

In a quiet place, you silenced her cries,
Keeping her hands from reaching out, her voice from rising high.
As if she was your equal, you tore her innocence away,
Leaving her in pain, shock, and a hidden fear to carry for a lifetime, they say.

Helpless, she bore the weight of your actions,
A loss of pride, a scarred soul, and infections from your invasions.
A child, not an option, a gift not to be misused,
Yet you took advantage, leaving her broken and confused.

Where have your manners gone, where is your heart?
Even animals know better than to cause such a part.
You claim it was alcohol, an excuse to hide your wrong,
But in court, your tears won't change what you've done so long.

Prison is where you belong, a lesson for others to see,
To remind them of their actions and the consequences they reap.
Save the child, save her from this torment,
Restore her hope and punish the one who caused her lament.

For children are our future, the leaders we'll one day see,
If we let them suffer and fall, who will lead us then, you and me?
Save that child, save her from this pain,
Give her back her hope and make the defiler feel the chain.
