Rooster Poem by Saiom Shriver

Rooster

Murdered

into a roaster,
his flesh served beside
demitasse
cups on coasters

Now there are none
to wake us at dawn

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Tom Earley said that when a fox got
into his son's henhouse, Jake the rooster
came up to his front door frantically
moving around to signal an alarm.
