Roo @ 15 Poem by Ivan Pine

Roo @ 15

MMM! ! Roo is that really you?
You have seem to have grown so fast,
Definitely not, short and stout
But slender like a mast.

Now in Year Nine, and it’s a crime
For time to go so quickly,
You’ve got, hardly any pimples
And you’re rarely ever sickly.

Decorating your ears so fine
With many changing baubles,
Painting lips and nails and,
Looking pretty for your troubles.

A nasty little allergy
Tried to spoil your fun,
Caused a special trip to Sydney
To be pampered, by your Mum.

So no more eating salicylates
Or whatever they be called,
Otherwise you’ll feel you have
Been run over, or just mauled.

Driving lessons, and friends joy ride
Give your parents stress,
In Anne and Stace you confide
And to dear Mum, confess.

Now mum does go ballistic
She doesn’t see the fun,
It’s a danger to your life
Before its barely ‘gun.

A new school, in Sydney town
A sort of shaky start,
Mixing with the natives
Not for you, a “Marrick” tart.

Old town or Newtown
The work is really hard,
We hope your doing your bit
To get a special card.

So now it’s nearly time
To celebrate your birth,
To open all your presents
And lay around in mirth.

Counting all my toes
And checking off the years,
Fifteen, I count to be you
Hooray, we shout, three cheers.

Happy 15th Birthday Ru! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
