Risen Poem by JoAnn McGrath

Risen

Rating: 5.0

The fragrant oils were brought
to anoint the dead
But the women were fraught
by the empty tomb they misread

'The man you are looking for
is no longer here
He has left through the door
and will reappear'

So the women and men
could not believe
Until appearing to them
He gave them relief

'What troubles you', the man asks
'Look at my hands and side
It is I, I'm not wearing a mask
I am free of the chains that bind'

'I rose up against all odds
To fulfill my destiny
It's a weary road I trod
but it's worth all the agony'

'In I you are born again
radiant and bright for all to see
This I did for you
Creating a clean heart in thee'

'So go and tell everyone
What all that you have seen
It is I, the risen Son
The man from Nazarene'
