Reticence Before Candour Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Reticence Before Candour

Enemies are everywhere,
Especially in printers' ink.
I am afraid to think.

Why should I dare
The sharp extremes
Of unseen dreams?

Why should I care
To call the peace
Of contraries?

Better to spare
The tug of wit:
Accept the implicit.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sometimes we must guard ourselves to avoid giving
room for critics of candid opinions on public affairs.
Especially, this applies to leaders and public figures,
and also to officials who are not 'conformist'.
