Resilience Poem by Anuradha Bhattacharyya

Resilience

Remain calm.

There are some days
When mere survival takes
Every ounce of energy
We can muster.
Though we may feel,
"I'd rather go back to the life
Before this;
To undo what has happened,
To return to a time of calm.

There are some days
When it's not easy
To feel good about one's actions,
Not easy to face danger,
Not turning back either.
If you've found yourself in the middle of a riot,
You may not be able to run away at once,
But you can grow resilient,
Protect yourself from harm.

There are some days
When you can…
A survivor is someone
Who conquers and overcomes defeat.
Keep your loved ones close,
Bring back to the original shape.
Or live beyond this experience of loss.
Though it may seem dramatic,
Be prepared.
