Renovations Poem by Daniela Iacoppi

Renovations

I try to convince myself I'll do it. Alone.
That I have the backbone.

The truth is, you see.
I can't do it without you.
I love you.
I need you with me.

I see the renovations
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations.

Trying to believe it will happen.
Relentlessly fantasizing.
Praying with passion.
A much awaited uprising.

I see the renovations.
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations.

Dark depths of twisted thoughts.
No guilt oozing from every pore.
In the name of serenity.
No more illicit infidelity.

I see the renovations.
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations.

New beginnings.
With all the trappings.
I saw a house today.
In complete disarray.
Just like us.
Just like me.

But I could see,

The renovations.
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations.

The sweat pouring down our backs.
Laughter amidst the noise of jacks.
Sharing visions.
Happy decisions.

I see the renovations.
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations.

A complicit couple; a loving family.
In desperate desire for this reality,
I raise my arms to welcome this fantasy.

I see the renovations.
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations.

To the Universe
I plead.
Hear my need.
Cajoling,
Inconsolable.

I see the renovations
I wait.
I debate.
I see the renovations

I wait
I wait.....

I await the renovations.
