Remorse Poem by Jenny Williams

Remorse

lost in the rain
memories of a smile
dancing in the darkness
under fallen stars

laughing in mysterious
places full of fear
wandering the ruins
alone inside of her

kissing in the chaos
of frozen hopes and dreams
screaming in her memory
is sorrow etched eternally

caught inside confusion
embraced inside the dark
trembling at her deep desire
for the man that she despised

lover in authority
demanding she be his
broken she’s entangled
trapped beneath his skin

self destructive shame
bound by chains of sin
follower of passion
uncontrolled, unforgiven

forever will he be
carved into her heart
bleeding out of turmoil
empty in regret
