Remembering Dad Poem by Eden Orbista

Remembering Dad

A Father is a joy to a daughter

A rock to rest her hopes to

A best friend whose shoulders she can lean on

Cry on when she's weary and wished he'll stay longer

Life is not short for a Dad whose deeds will be remembered

Not just by his daughter and his family

But by all whose hearts he touched and lives he helped to become better

Lucky a daughter whose Dad is revered

For he left a legacy that everyone will look up to and embrace.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Remebering my Dad, as a child my birthdays and my sibling's too, were celebrated with love and fun filled entertainments. We invited our classmates and friends, we shared merry moments while we dig into the sumptuous meals Tatay prepared. And he'd never forget to play his guitar of beautiful Spanish acoustic melodies.I remembered him dishing up a menu as he taught me the details how to. I took from him my love for cooking. When there was a typhoon, Tatay would let us stay in one safe place of the house, while the heavy rains and strong winds hovered around the whole place, he would cook for us. Ummm, the smell of spaghetti for snacks and pork humba with rice deliciously served hot at dinner, ........ How can I forget?
