Remain Poem by Godfrey Torrance

Remain

In the light of the day
In the dark of night
It remains
Waiting, yearning,
Sitting

Unnoticed it goes
For so long
It remains

Through the days
Filled with tears
And heartache

Yearned for, it waits
A latent meaning to life
Still remaining
Under eyes so blind
Like a bat in space
No sound for direction

It remains
Through the days and weeks
It doesn’t move
It doesn’t speak

It stands in front
Seen through like a ghost
Lost in purgatory
With nowhere to go
But to stay. Remain.

To be noticed
Is all it wants
To be seen
Is all it needs
It can’t be broken
unlike a diamond against itself.

Like the day and night
It moves
In a constant cycle

Will it be noticed
Like the day and night?
Adjusted to
Like the change in seasons
The weather so warm,
So cold.

Blinded by what she has
Unable to see what she wants
It remains, waiting for her realization
That what she wants
Has been right here
Under her nose
In front of her face, remaining.
