Rejoining Poem by Ima Ryma

Rejoining

In summertime we two did take
A getaway for the weekend.
We went to our fav'rite lake.
She was my mate and my best friend.
We went out in a rented boat.
It tipped and overboard she fell.
Her lifeless body came afloat.
For me it was a living hell.
Months later, wintertime, and I
Return to the lake all alone.
I stroll along the beach and cry.
My choice I've made and won't postpone.

My last footprints be left in snow,
As into the iced lake I go.
