Reflections On Illusions Poem by Anbudan Miththiran

Reflections On Illusions

In this world, where glamour reigns supreme,
We chase it relentlessly, at any cost,
Drawn by captivating images and news headlines,
Expecting beauty in attire and expressions,
Yet, do we ever pause to question ourselves?

Oh, refrain from this pursuit! Reflect,
For truth lies hidden beneath the surface.

Diseases peddled through advertisements,
Buy and consume! The magic elixirs promise relief,
Rice as a remedy for digestion,
A potion to ease the passage of digested fare,
And another to awaken hunger anew,
A clandestine feast of pharmaceuticals.

Oh, resist this allure! Seek the truth that lies beyond the facade.

Our bodies, frail vessels, weaker still,
Unable to sprint or stride with grace,
We marvel at the swift runner's prowess,
Yet stumble in awe at the walker's perseverance.
Cycling—a feat we deem extraordinary,
A shortcut sought through cerebral might,
Yet our bodies wither, impotent.

Oh, heed this wisdom! The truth awaits those who seek it. 🌟
