Reconciliation Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Reconciliation

Gather your senses
Sit them down
Have a long discussion
Counsel them
Together make a decision
To reconcile with those you’ve lost

Gather your shoes
Trace your step
To that same moment
The same spot
When you departed
In that tumultuous haste

Gather your strength
Be sober in your mind
Have a little prayer
Do not be afraid
The truth will set you free

Reconciliation is an art
Requiring the right mix of paint
The setting and time
The mood and environment
Patience and humility
Forgiveness and humanity
The bigger picture
