Quest Of A Soul Poem by Lukie Pieterse

Quest Of A Soul

Rating: 3.0

There came a day, a week, months
when my old soul became restless,
needing to find Her soul,
his Mate he was convinced.

And off he went on a journey,
a quest to find Her soul
and bring it to me,
a gift, a grace undeserved.

On the back of a morning breeze he rode,
but the breeze died down
and no further he got

On the wings of a seagull he rode,
but the seagull returned to land
and stranded he was

On the crest of a wave he rode,
but the wave broke
and left him on dry sand

On the back of a bumblebee he rode,
but the bumblebee died
and nowhere could another be found

On a cloud he sailed
but the cloud turned to rain
and from the sky he fell

On the mane of a wild horse he galloped
but the horse threw him off
and in the dust he was

On a camel's hump he tried
but the camel moved too slow
and the desert was his end

Tired and despondent he came back to me,
dejected he was, my old soul
Why? he asked
Why can I not find my Mate?

Old soul, I told him then,
Why do you roam?
Why do you look far and wide?
Nowhere else will you find Her,
but here with me...

Where, where do you keep Her soul he asked,
Not understanding, not knowing.
Look in my mind, I said.
And he opened my mind,
And yes, there She was!

Where, where else do you keep Her he asked,
Anxious now to know more.
Look in my heart, I said.
And he opened my heart,
And yes, there She was!

Wiser and satisfied now my old soul smiled at me.
Keep Her safe, he said
Treat Her with respect
Be kind to Her more so than to anyone else

Never fail Her
Always be there when She is in need
Never ever forsake Her
Always be ready to forgive Her

Bring joy to her lovely heart
A smile to Her sunshine face
A twinkle to Her big brown eyes
Fine thoughts to Her beautiful mind

And above all,
Love Her more than yourself

Because

She is your Lady
She is your Care
She is your Comfort
She is your Love
And She is my Mate

And then he sighs and came to rest,
this old soul of mine
Let her be safe with you, he said
Then I will be still and happy too,
And so will you...
