Prying Eyes Poem by Ashley Burns

Prying Eyes

I see them
Smiling
Kissing heads
Holding hands across the dinner table
Loving, cherishing
Blissfully in tune with one another
Oblivious to the affects of their actions
The relics of my love that come rushing back
Engulfing me
Taking me back
Back
Back to the past
When those hands were mine to hold
Head mine to kiss
Smiles directed toward me
Reflecting my love
Love that is gone
Replaced
With new embrace
I see them
