Proxy Wars Poem by Mason Maestro

Proxy Wars

Can you see the black cloud above?
It was put there by the nuclear threat
All this tension with the Eastern Bloc
frightened by the impending war
And we engaged in blockading doors
And playing the game with cold, proxy wars
Berlin got its wall, Suez got its crisis
We got the Cuban Missile Crisis
A Vietnam sore, the Yom Kippur War
Superpower arms race
A juvenile space race
Keep Gorbachev in check, keep it right on par
Engineered glasnost for USSR
