Prey Poem by Martin O'Neill

Brother Lee Love was a preacher
Evangelist by trade
It would take a leap of faith
To believe how much he made!

The punters rolled in two by two
And 4x4's as well
The cash tills singing Songs of Praise
To keep their souls fom Hell

Now Brother Lee was on the stage
And he was raising Cain
He took the audience to the skies
And swooped 'em down again

The crowd were swaying side to side
They all loved Brother Lee
His eyes lit up, his face aglow
Said, 'Bring your sins to me! '

So Norman on his crutches came,
Stuttering Steven too
And there before the Altar said
'We place our faith in you! '

(Well, Norman did, Steve, almost did.)

So Brother Lee beseeched the crowd
To pray for Norm and Steve
And sending them behind a screen
He told them to 'BELIEVE! '.

Brother Lee then swivelled round
And faced the wide-eyed crowd
Tipped back his head and raised his arms
And prayed to GOD out loud

'Give Norman back his legs to walk,
Oh Lord to You we pray! '
Then turning to the screen he cried,
'Throw your sticks away! '

'Unlock Steve's tongue, let words run free,
Oh Lord we thee beseech! '
Then turning to the screen he said,
'Steve, bless us with your speech! '

The congregation held it's breath,
A fly stopped in mid-hover....
And from behind the screen was heard
'N-N-Norman's f-f-fallen over! '
