Prelude Poem by Matt Burgett

Prelude

Something simple and compact
Sits inside my mind
Something rare but beautiful
A truly amazing find

A poem with such majesty
Not another poem could ever match
Like a diamond in the rough
The finally to the final batch

A commitment to stop it all
The final raindropp ready to fall
The snow will come and pass
I pray this poem not be my last

I'm ready to write again
But a resolution first I must confess
Then with everything off
I'll be ready again to be the best

In this new year I make a vow
And right here I'll give a clue
I make a promise to you all
This is just a prelude
