Prayer To The Great Goddess Hestia Poem by Crystal Piatt

Prayer To The Great Goddess Hestia

O, Mighty Hestia,
daughter of the great Titans, Kronos and Rhea,
sister of the Queen and King of the Gods, Zeus and Hera.
Tender of the Hearth, nurturer of the familial flame,
Great Goddess, who presides over family and home,
look after the ones I treasure in my heart, their families and loved ones.
Watch over the as the sleep, as they dream.
Help them keep their families together, help them stay strong.
Ease their pain in times of sorrow and misery.
Allow hope to grow, joy to last.
I ask nothing for myself, but for them, for the ones I hold most dear,
even if we are not close, even if the feelings are not returned.
Even if we never speak again, please, assist them in troubled times.
Friends, family, lovers, whether past, present, or future;
Keep them safe.
Keep them strong.
Let them never lose sight of what is needed,
of what will always matter most.
I ask for them to never forget who they are,
and for them to never stop believing.
In you, in God, in whomever their heart choses.
Faith, strength, love and courage;
Shall you empower them with everything they need to survive.
O, strong and worthy Hestia, Goddess of the sacred flame,
Please protect the ones I love.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Just something I've been working on for a short while now. Strongly from the heart. Strongly in terms with what I believe in. I'm not entirely sure I believe in the Greek Gods/Goddesses, but if I were ever to become a part of religion, it would be theirs. The way my mind works, and my heart, I just am not capable of believing in one god I suppose. I have absolutely nothing against monotheism though, nothing at all. My family is Christian in the majority, I just don't share their beliefs. Polytheism makes much more sense to me, I understand it more. I understand the gods and the stories more.

I think it was really inspired by the Percy Jackson series. Hestia has always been my favourite goddess in both those stories and the original Greek myths.
