Portions Of My Soul Poem by Margaret Alice

Portions Of My Soul

Sitting here, head fit to burst, pain my strange
companion, the movie I'm watching not working
to make me forget, once before today a pill took
the pain away - then it came back and seems to
be here to stay, stronger painkillers are needed
methinks, luckily, physical pain washes all mental
and emotional pain away, so I shall grin and bear
it and hope that other portions of my soul entity are
having a better time, doing more exciting things
eating healthy foods and improving the world
while I would prefer to die...
