Poorer Than Me Poem by Francis Duggan

Poorer Than Me

The beauty of Nature is all around me
All mine without paying any money for to see
A beauty i have loved since i was a young boy
That still brings me moments of pleasure and joy
The man who owns the big house is a known billionaire
But he is not one who is unburdened by care
Nature's beauty to him does not mean anything
The wonders around him to him joy does not bring
White blossoms are blooming on the sunlit trees
And the songs of the birds carry in the warm breeze
But the billionaire not feeling happy today
Financially things are not going his way
And though financially i live close to poverty
In some ways i feel he is poorer than me.
